The Pacific Northwest Indian Center (PNIC) was not an official part of Expo ‘74, but it was in close physical proximity to the Expo ‘74 site, opened around the same time, and had a thematic focus that fit well into Expo’s interest in Native aesthetics. It was mentioned frequently in coverage of Expo ‘74 and included in many official materials.

In 1976, the Center’s name was changed to the Museum of Native American Cultures (MONAC). It closed in 1991 and gave its collections to the present-day Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture (NWMAC).
